Revising Limits on Neutrino-Majoron Couplings

چکیده
Any theory that have a global spontaneously broken symmetry will imply the existence of very light neutral bosons or massless bosons (sometimes called Majorons). For most of these models we have neutrino-Majoron couplings, that appear as additional branching ratios in decays of mesons and leptons. Here we present an updated limits on the couplings between the electron, muon and tau neutrinos and Majorons. For such we analyze the possible effects of Majoron emission in both meson and lepton decays. In the latter we also include an analysis of the muon decay spectrum. Our results are |geα| 2 < 5.5 × 10, |gμα| 2 < 4.5 × 10 and |gτα| 2 < 5.5 × 10 at 90 % C. L., where α = e, μ, τ .

Generalized Bounds on Majoron-neutrino couplings
We discuss limits on neutrino-Majoron couplings both from laboratory experiments as well as from astrophysics. They apply to the simplest class of Majoron models which covers a variety of possibilities where neutrinos acquire mass either via a seesaw-type scheme or via radiative corrections. By adopting a general framework including CP phases we generalize bounds obtained previously. The combin...
متن کاملConstraints on Majoron Models, Neutrino Masses and Baryogenesis
We derive strong contraints on the Yukawa couplings and the vacuum expectation value in the singlet majoron model, taking into account the possibility of a small gravitationally induced mass for the majoron. If the present baryon asymmetry was created earlier than at the electroweak phase transition, then to preserve it from the combined effects of lepton number violating interactions and elect...
متن کاملDecaying majoron dark matter and neutrino masses
We review the recent proposal by Lattanzi & Valle of the majoron as a suitable warm dark matter candidate. The majoron is the Goldstone boson associated to the spontaneous breaking of ungauged lepton number, one of the mechanisms proposed to give rise to neutrino masses. The majoron can acquire a mass through quantum gravity effects, and can possibly account for the observed dark matter compone...
متن کاملLimits on Visibly and Invisibly Decaying Higgs Bosons from Lep
The problem of mass generation remains one of the main puzzles in particle physics today. In the standard model all masses arise as a result of the spontaneous breaking of SU(2)⊗U(1) the gauge symmetry. This implies the existence of an elementary Higgs boson not yet found. Recently the LEP experiments on e + e − collisions around the Z peak have placed important restrictions on the Higgs boson ...
متن کاملPlanck Scale Symmetry Breaking and Majoron Physics
Majoron models provide neutrino masses via the spontaneous breaking of a global U(1) symmetry. However, it may be argued that all global symmetries will be explicitly violated by gravita-tional effects. We show that it is possible to preserve most of the usual features of majoron models by invoking U(1) B−L to be a gauge symmetry and adding a second singlet scalar field. The majoron gets a smal...
